Reindeer Visit BADM
Come and meet Snowflake and Blizzard, two live reindeer that will be visiting BADM! Watch them roam about in Lookout Cove and learn from their experienced handlers about their diet, migration patterns and unique characteristics that have allowed them to thrive in extreme environments.

Take a Photo with Santa!

Skip the lines and crowds at this exclusive event where kids can spend time with Santa and have their photo taken (bring your camera!). Enjoy yummy snacks and hot chocolate in Discovery Theatre. Meet and take a photo with Santa, included with general admission or free for members. Santa will be in the Discovery Theater in the Entry Pavilion. The line to meet Santa will begin at the side entrance of the Theater which is located on Satterlee Way. Have your camera ready!Museum Tickets* Free for Members

December Drop-In Programs
Introduce your children to science, technology, engineering, and math while having a blast at our winter-themed drop-in programs! Explore projects and programs that introduce children to winter sports – like making your own snow shoes – or try your hand at art projects like sled design.
- Science Lab – Arctic Animals
Children explore the adaptations that animals use to survive in the most extreme wintery climates.
- Maker Lab – Snow Shoe Design:
Using a variety of surprising everyday materials, children build footwear inspired by the technology of snowshoes. Children then test them on bubble wrap to see if their shoe can support them without popping any bubbles!
- Fab Lab – Ski Lift Engineering
Children design, build, and test a unique chairlift car that will take miniatures skiers up the mountain to begin their ski run!
- Winter Lanterns
Children cut, punch, and carve designs into their own winter lanterns.
- Ice Castles
Children design and build miniature ice castles using custom architecture pieces made in our Fab Lab.
- Arctic Slime
Children participate in tactile play with snow slime in arctic landscape.
- Sled Design
Children design and build their own sled and test it out on our icy slopes.
- Snow Painting
Drop by our Toddler Kits to experiment with snow and painting.

Noon Year's Eve on December 31
Save the date for this kid-friendly affair, including a celebratory ball drop at noon, a live DJ, dancing, and various art activities. In addition, enjoy access to the museum’s indoor and outdoor exhibits like Lookout Cove and Bay Hall.Museum Tickets* Free for Members

Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. The museum closes early at 2 p.m. on December 31, 2017, after our Noon Year’s Eve Celebration.
*Each Saturday, members join us for special Member Hour from 9 – 10 a.m.
