Kick Off the New Year with a New Exhibit and More at the Bay Area Discovery Museum

A new exhibit opening mid-month is just one reason to visit in January

Sausalito, CA – The first month of a new year is the perfect chance to explore! At the Bay Area Discovery Museum (BADM), a new exhibit opening mid-month will inspire visitors of all ages. BADM’s slate of drop-in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programming is also a perfect opportunity to kick-off 2018 with innovative learning and creativity. These programs, designed based on findings from the Center for Childhood Creativity (CCC), BADM’s on-site research division, are a chance to support early STEM learning while having fun!

Last Chance! Visit Special Exhibit, Measurement Rules
Have you ever wanted to know your height in apples? Or your weight in chickens? January is your last chance to answer those questions and more at BADM’s special exhibit, Measurement Rules! In this interactive exhibit, traditional tools like rulers and stopwatches get left behind in favor of fun new units that make the process of measuring length, time, volume, and weight come to life.
The last day to visit Measurement Rules is Sunday, January 14 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Visiting special exhibits is included with general museum admission, or free for BADM members.

From Here to There, Special Exhibit Opens at BADM
We all have places to go, but few of us ever think about all the different ways there are to get there. Opening in January, BADM’s new special exhibit, From Here to There, explores the science of how things move by land, sea, and air. Visitors to the exhibit are invited to learn about air pressure by riding a hovercraft and explore the future of travel by experimenting with magnetic levitation. Twelve different hands-on activities provide an engaging opportunity to learn about gravity, friction, and the laws of motion that help us move through the world around us.
From Here to There opens at BADM on Saturday, January 27.

Visiting special exhibits is included with general museum admission or free for BADM members.

January Drop-In Programs
A new year means new opportunities for exploration at BADM! Our science, technology, engineering, and math programs encourage children to grow their curiosity through hands-on activities. In January, children will have the opportunity to change the shape of a piece of wood using sandpaper, or build a machine that can turn on a light using ping pong balls and cardboard tubes. They’ll experience first-hand that the simplest tools can be used to accomplish innovative tasks. BADM’s January drop-in programs combine innovative learning with creative fun and include STEM Programs and Art Programs.
For more information on daily drop-in programs, please click here.
All drop-in programs are included with general museum admission or free for BADM members.
