STEM Workshop Topics
Bridge Builders (Pre-K – TK): Engineers engage directly with the engineering design process, as they work collaboratively and independently to explore, build, and try out bridges, then make them even better!
Bridge Builders STEM Workshop is offered both at the Museum and at Your Site.
Fairy Tale Engineering (TK – 3rd): Engineers engage directly with the engineering design process as they work collaboratively to solve problems for beloved fairy tale characters.
Fairy Tale Engineering STEM Workshop is offered both at the Museum and at Your Site.
Push, Pull, Crash (Pre-K – 1st): Scientists experiment with push and pull to cause and avoid collisions, create art, and engage in exploration of the powers of force and friction.
Push, Pull, Crash is offered both at the Museum and at Your Site.
Light and Shadow (1st – 2nd): Designers gain a deeper knowledge of light and its ability to move through different materials by designing their own shadow puppets, using tablets and laser cut materials in our new Fab Lab. $100 materials fee applies.
Light and Shadow STEM Workshop is only offered at BADM. This program is only available on Tuesday and Thursday.
Measurement and Me (Pre-K – 1st): Mathematicians compare, contrast, count, and measure as they investigate how tall, long, wide, and heavy things are in the world around them.
Measurement and Me STEM Workshop is offered both at the Museum and at Your Site.
Ten in My Toolbox (K – 1st): Mathematicians engage with a rich variety of activities to strengthen their understanding of the composition and decomposition of the number 10.
Ten in My Toolbox STEM Workshop is offered both at the Museum and at Your Site.
Stretch It, Shape It, Grow It (K – 3rd): Neuroscientists learn about their amazing brains! Through story, movement, discussion, and creative activities, students learn how practice, taking risks, and making mistakes are important for tackling new challenges.
Stretch It, Shape It, Grow It STEM Workshop is offered both at the Museum and at Your Site.
Explore the Shore (K – 3rd): Biologists investigate the animals and plants in the intertidal zone of nearby Horseshoe Cove, in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Add on a 30-minute engineering challenge to design a creature with adaptive features that would help it thrive in this unique habitat (for an additional $50 fee).
Explore the Shore STEM Workshop is only offered at BADM.
