You don’t need an official guide to explore the Bay Area Discovery Museum! Our Discover-It-Yourself (DIY) field trips are self-guided visits for students and adults. Perfect for preschools, early elementary classrooms, and community organizations looking for a shared educational experience, students have the opportunity to grow their content knowledge, critical thinking, and creative problem solving skills through learning experiences aligned with Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards. Teachers feel inspired and supported by our active, exploratory learning environment that promotes student engagement, collaboration, and creativity, while parents and caretakers develop knowledge, awareness, and skills to foster creativity, resilience and creative thinking in their own children through shared learning experiences.
DIY school visits provide timed entry and departure at a discounted rate for groups of 10 to 80 children plus chaperones. Groups have up to 2.5 hours at the museum and the flexibility to explore the exhibitions at their own pace. Every student receives a coupon for discounted admission for a future museum visit.
