Programs at BADM

If you are planning to visit BADM with 10 or more students, a reservation is required. To ensure the safety and comfort of all visitors, BADM requires all groups to maintain a minimum supervisory ration of one adult for every five students, and students must be accompanied by adults at all times. We reserve the right to turn away visitors who do not comply with this 1:5 adult-to-student ratio.

School Visit programs at BADM are available for formal California school groups. If you are not associated with a school, but are interested in bringing a group of children to the Bay Area Discovery Museum, please visit out Group Visits page.

Due to the intimate and hands-on nature of our site, the maximum group size that we can accommodate is 80 students. School groups will be asked to split into smaller groups of no more than five students while exploring the museum.

For groups of students with special needs, there is no minimum group size and all adults are complimentary to ensure that all students are able to access and engage with our site.

Programs at Your Site

For STEM Workshops and Try It Truck programs visiting schools, we require at least two sessions of the same program to be booked on the same day for each site.

No travel fee is required for events held within 25 miles of the museum. For events help beyond 25 miles, a travel fee is applied to the total balance for your event.

BADM requires all programs to have a minimum of 4 adult volunteers to support the students’ learning. We welcome additional adults to participate in our programs at your site, and all adults are complimentary.

Paying for Your Balance: Payment of the balance for your program is due no later than the day of the event. We do not accept cash payments or purchase orders. We understand that numbers of student and adult participants in programs change, so we update your balance due on the day of your program. Failure to pay the balance by the day of your visit will result in a $50 late fee.

BADM memberships, passes, coupons, groupons, or other discounted tickets will not be accepted for school programs. School programs are taken on behalf of the school, and already receive discounted admission.

Travel Surcharge: No travel fee is required for events held within 25 miles of the museum. For STEM Workshops held beyond 25 miles from the museum and Try It Truck programs held beyond 40 miles from the museum, a travel fee is applied to the total balance due.

Cancelling and Rescheduling

Cancellations must be made more than 30 days in advance to receive a full refund. Cancellations made less than 7 days in advance will be charged the full amount. BADM is a rain or shine location, so programs will proceed as scheduled unless the museum closes due to extreme weather or hazardous conditions. If the museum closes, a full refund will be issued. While we do our best to accommodate unanticipated circumstances, fees will be applied to groups who cancel scheduled programs due to weather.
