School Visit Policies

Adult-to-Child Ratio

For safety reasons, all children must be accompanied by adults at all times, and all adults accompanied by children. To ensure the safety and comfort of all visitors, BADM requires all groups to maintain a minimum supervisory ratio of one adult for every five children at all times. We reserve the right to turn away visitors who do not comply with this 1:5 adult-to-child ratio. School groups will be asked to split into smaller groups of no more than five students while exploring the museum.

Group Reservations

If you are planning to visit BADM with 10 or more children we require a reservation be made at least one month in advance. Registration for the 2016-2017 school year opens on August 15, 2016. Click here to fill out the reservation form. Reservations are accepted for the entire school year at that time. We strongly encourage you to submit your reservation request as early as possible to ensure your ideal visit date is available for your group.

Unregistered Groups

Advance registration is required in order to receive the discounted school visit admission rate. Unregistered groups are charged the regular admission rate. Unregistered groups are required to comply with BADM’s minimum 1:5 adult-to-child supervisory ratio. We reserve the right to turn away visitors who do not comply with this 1:5 adult-to-child ratio. Museum memberships, passes, coupons, Groupons or other discounts are not valid payment for group visits.

Deposits

A $50 deposit for school visits is required at least one month prior to your visit and is applied to the total cost of your program.

Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellations must be made more than 30 days in advance to receive a full refund. While we do our best to accommodate unanticipated circumstances, fees may be applied for events cancelled less than 30 days in advance. Cancellations made less than 14 days in advance will be charged the full amount.

Balance Due

Payment of the balance for your program is due no later than the day of the event. Failure to pay the balance due by the day of your visit will result in a $50 late fee.

Memberships and Passes

Museum memberships, passes, coupons, Groupons or other discounts are not valid payment for group visits.

Timed Entry and Departure

All school visits are scheduled to enter and depart the site at a specific time in order to maintain a museum-wide experience capacity. While we will do our best to accommodate unanticipated circumstances, early entry and late departures cannot be guaranteed.

Rain or Shine

Pre-registered school visits proceed as scheduled rain or shine. Our 7.5-acre indoor and outdoor site operates year-round, closing only in the event of extreme or hazardous conditions. While we do our best to accommodate unanticipated circumstances, fees may be applied for events cancelled due to weather.

Travel Surcharge

For off-site events held within 25 miles of the museum, no travel fee is applied. For off-site events held at your location beyond that 25-mile limit, a surcharge is applied to the total fee for your event.

Photos

From time to time, BADM takes photographs and video of museum activities and visitors for use in editorial and/or promotional material. By entering the museum, you give permission to the museum to record photographs or video of yourself and your dependents. Review complete information in our privacy policy here. Please inform the Front Desk or your group’s education facilitator if you or any children in your supervision may not be photographed.
