Bay Area Discovery Museum Welcomes 1,000 Students for Google Field Trip Day on November 7

Sausalito, CA – The Bay Area Discovery Museum (BADM) is hosting Google Field Trip Day for 1,000 Bay Area students on Monday, November 7, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Sausalito.

Due to generous funding from Google, BADM is hosting this special field trip free of charge for TK – 2nd grade students, along with their teachers and chaperones, which includes access to the museum’s exhibits, facilitated science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs, as well as lunch, and transportation to and from the museum.

Students are coming from South San Francisco Unified School District, San Francisco Unified School District, and Oakland Unified School District. Schools include John Muir Elementary School, Los Cerritos Elementary School, Martin Elementary School, Spruce Elementary School, and REACH Academy.

“Google’s funding of a field trip day allows schools and students who have never been to BADM an opportunity to visit the site and engage in high-quality STEM programming aligned to Next Generation Science Standards,” says Cami Gordon, Manager of Programs for Schools and Teachers at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. “Our environment, philosophy, and programming not only provides the students with a memorable day, it also supports teachers and parents by modeling best practices with STEM teaching and learning.”

Teachers in attendance receive a special STEM take-home kit, which includes materials to do a LED/circuits activity back in the classroom. Each student receives an Admit 5 Pass so they can return to the museum with their family for free.

The museum will be closed to the public for the event.
