Our program and event registration forms require users to give us contact information that may include their name, email address, phone number, mailing address, interests and similar information. This information is used to identify participants and allow us to provide them with their ticketing/registration information and/or donor acknowledgment form.

  • Users have the right to access, update, or delete the data that Museum has for them.

Internet Protocol Address

We collect an IP address from every visitor to our site(s). An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to the user’s computer when the user uses the Internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our site, analyze trends, track users’ movements, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve our site(s) and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Use of “Cookies”

Our site may use cookies to enhance the user experience while using our site. Cookies are pieces of information that some websites transfer to the computer that is browsing that website and are used for record-keeping purposes at many websites. Use of cookies makes web-surfing easier by performing certain functions such as saving the user’s passwords, the user’s personal preferences regarding the user’s use of the particular website and to make sure the user doesn’t see the same ad repeatedly. Many consider the use of cookies to be an industry standard. The user’s browser is most likely set to accept cookies. However, if the user would prefer not to receive cookies, the user can alter the configuration of their browser to refuse it. If the user chooses to have their browser refuse cookies, it is possible that some areas of our site will not function properly when the user views them.

Google Analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics, including Demographics and Interest Reporting, to better understand our audience and improve our content. This helps us provide relevant programs, events, and experiences for our visitors.

Google Analytics collects data such as age, gender, and interests through cookies and other identifiers. This data is aggregated and anonymous—we do not receive personally identifiable information.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time by using the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on or adjusting your Google Ad Settings here.

For more details on how Google collects and processes data, visit Google’s Privacy Policy.

Security

All information involving monetary transactions provided to the Museum, such as donation forms, e-commerce and event registrations, is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven coding system that lets the user’s browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before the user sends it to us. We also protect account information by placing it on a secure portion of our site that is only accessible by certain qualified employees of The Museum. However, no data transmission over the Internet is 100 percent secure. While we strive to protect the user’s information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.

The user has full control of their email account and the types of emails they subscribe to. The user can unsubscribe and change their account and subscription settings at any time via logging in to their profile page which can be found via a link at the bottom of an email. The Museum does not share email addresses outside of the organization and never sells users’ email addresses. It is our policy to not send solicitation emails to individuals under the age of 18 (based on our ability to possess knowledge of the user’s age).
