Big Art Weekend

Discover large, vibrant and messy opportunities to create art around every corner at Bay Area Discovery Museum's Big Art Weekend.

April 23 and 24, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. 
Entry Times: 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m.
All activities included in admission. Tickets are required due to limited capacity.
Tickets are free for members.

Programs include:
  • Mural Dance Party: The dance floor is the canvas, and your hands and feet are your tools to create 
  • Bubble Art: Pop bubbles of color to add to a dynamic 100-foot-long mosaic 
  • Yarn Bombing: Fabricate street art with artist Amy Lange by wrapping everyday objects with yarn  
  • Sand Sculptures: Sculpt with sandcastle architect Samee Sheikh   
  • Shibori Dyeing: Twist, knot, and dip fabric in indigo dye to reveal surprising designs   
  • Paper Marbling: Shaving cream and watercolors are the mediums for marble masterpieces   
  • Playdough making: Mix, knead and pick a color to make playdough 
  • Performances by: Hip Hop for Change (Sat) and Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble (Sun)
