As the Bay Area Discovery Museum’s school-readiness program, Connections exemplifies Bay Area Discovery Museum’s commitment to making high-quality, play-based, early learning experiences accessible to all children.
Connections was launched in 2008, and today partners with 90 federally subsidized preschool classrooms in Marin, San Francisco, and Contra Costa counties. The program engages students, families, and teachers in creative STEM learning through multiple facilitated visits both at partner school sites and at the museum.
Through participation in this research-based program, students gain critical knowledge that will support them as lifelong learners, and prepare them to thrive in school and in life. Teachers and adult family members participate in visits as well, and learn valuable strategies to enhance student exploration and learning in support of science, math, and executive function skill development.
Connections is free to all of our partner schools and families. Following every visit, students receive “Admit 5” passes to come back to the museum, so they can continue their exploration and learning year round.
Thank you to the following funders for their support of the Connections program.
