Dance Performances & Workshops in Partnership with Youth In Arts

Visit BADM on Saturdays this summer for an exciting new dance workshop series! BADM is partnering with Youth in Arts to bring your family a collection of global dance themes.

The Summer Dance Series will take place on Saturdays starting June 19 and will run for 6 consecutive weekends. There are two chances to attend each 45-minute performance and take each 25-minute workshop. All performances and workshops are included with general admission - no additional reservations required.

Afro-Peruvian Dance

Discover dance that is vibrant and expressive. Join Cunamacué for an Afro-Peruvian Dance workshop. Cunamacué was founded in 2010 by Carmen Román in Oakland, California with the purpose of bringing visibility to the presence and cultural knowledge of the African descendant population in Peru. 

  • Performances: 11:00 a.m. & 12:40 p.m.
  • Workshops: 11:50 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.

Included with general admission.

Brazilian Samba

Dance is an immersive experience. Through authentic Afro-Brazilian dance, the Aguas Dance Company tells a deeper story of cultural gifts that have been curated by the African community in Brazil for almost two centuries.

  • Performances: 11:30 a.m. & 1:10 p.m.
  • Workshops: 12:20 p.m. & 2:00 p.m.

Included with general admission.

Youth in Arts Mentor Artist Stephanie Bastos will be collaborating with Tânia Santiago and Águas Dance Company for this assembly and workshop program.
