Tot Spot – Bay Area Discovery Museum

Tot Spot

Place Wonder Within Reach

Now Open! Included with General Admission

Infants and toddlers stretch their imaginations and satisfy their curiosity as they crawl, toddle, feel and hop their way through Bay and Forest themed environments designed just for them.

In this space, children under 42 inches will develop their social, vocabulary and STEM thinking skills through play.

Forest Room

Inspired by the wooded landscapes surrounding the Bay Area, the Forest Room transforms the wonders of nature into an indoor play space.

Bay Room

Inspired by the waters surrounding the Bay Area, the Bay Room incorporates beloved elements of Bay Area Discovery Museum’s original Tot Spot, including a soft waterbed play area.

Develop Social Skills

Tot Spot was built for toddlers and their families. Caregivers are given the opportunity to stay engaged with their child's play in this space through back-and-forth play. This can be as simple as a game of peek-a-boo!

Grow Vocabulary

Tot Spot's new features encourage exploration as your toddler crawls up and down the different levels and ramps. Caregivers are prompted to introduce new spatial language such as above, over, through, or under to describe what their child is doing.

Build STEM Foundations

Your toddler will learn the scientific concept of cause and effect through repetitive activities such as repeatedly filling buckets and dumping them out. These activities support thinking skills that will last a lifetime.

Tot Spot made possible by Betsy & Ed McDermott.
