Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct

  1. All individuals are expected to treat others, including staff, with respect. The use of profanity, aggressive behavior, or engaging in rude, inconsiderate, or abusive conduct is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, any form of corporal punishment is expressly forbidden onsite.
  2. The Bay Area Discovery Museum (the museum) is designed for children ages 0-8. All children (under 18 years old) must be accompanied and supervised by a legal adult guardian aged 18 or older at all times while on museum premises. All children under the age of 6 need to be supervised at all times by an adult. Required supervision ratio: one adult for every five children. Adults are not permitted entry into the museum without the presence of a child.
  3. Any behavior or activity that disrupts the safe and orderly operation of the museum or interferes with the staff’s ability to perform their duties is strictly prohibited.
  4. All weapons, including firearms, knives, and use of personal defense tools are prohibited on campus.
  5. The possession, use, or distribution of alcoholic beverages and controlled substances (including but not limited to marijuana/cannabis in any form) is strictly prohibited.
  6. Developmentally appropriate risk-taking is encouraged, provided appropriate supervision is maintained. The museum assumes no responsibility for any injuries that may occur.
  7. The operation of motor vehicles on-site during public hours is prohibited without being accompanied by museum staff.
  8. All visitors are required to enter and exit through designated access points. Unauthorized entry, including fence jumping, is strictly prohibited and will be considered trespassing.
  9. Shoes are required, with the exception of infants and all guests in the Tot Spot and other designated special exhibits.
  10. Balloons and outside toys that could disrupt other children’s play are prohibited. These could include balls, kites, toy weapons (swords, light sabers, knives, guns), bicycles, skates, scooters, balance bikes, and similar equipment.
  11. Diaper changes in restrooms only. Use of training potties is allowed only in restrooms. Diaper backpacks with changing supplies are available to visitors near every restroom entrance.

Visitors or members can be suspended from visiting the Bay Area Discovery Museum if repeated offenses occur. Length of suspension is determined by our on-site safety and leadership team.
