San Francisco Public Library August Newsletter, “Try It Truck Rolls into the Library”

This summer we invite children in kindergarten through 5th grade to explore, connect and ignite their creativity on board the new mobile engineering lab—the “Try It Truck”—from our friends at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. San Francisco Public
Library is one of the museum’s partners piloting this new initiative with high-quality, hands-on, minds-on STEM creative programming. For an engineering experience, tinker on board and in the Library with high- technology tools such as a laser cutter and 3D printer. Or tackle an engineering challenge as you roam through multiple activity stations that combine hand tools and craft supplies. Jump onboard this 11-foot van and have fun while you’re also fostering 21st century skills like critical thinking, collaboration and creativity! Try It Truck – Aug. 2, 11 a.m.–2 p.m., outside of the Main Library and in the Children’s Center; Aug. 10, 1–3 p.m., inside and outside the Mission Branch Library
