Virtual Workshops – Bay Area Discovery Museum

Virtual Workshops

Virtual Workshops

Bay Area Discovery Museum's Virtual Workshops bring playful, creative thinking into your learning space – no matter where you are! Our educators use big body movements and student participation to keep students motivated and engaged in each workshop.  Workshops are well suited for classroom settings via projector or with students using individual devices

In our Virtual STEAM Workshops, students design and build using materials from their settings - no special supplies necessary! Our scaffolded, NGSS-aligned workshop will encourage exploration of materials and STEAM content while encouraging collaborative problem solving and playful, creative thinking.

With our Virtual Pre-K Play Programs, students will dance, laugh, play games, and wiggle their way into early STEM learning. DRDP- and PLF-aligned, each Pre-K program encourages creative, flexible thinking and gets preschoolers off their seats!

Let’s Think, Make, Try®  together!

Testimonials

Bay Area Discovery Museum was one of the first partners that was ready to jump in on this Virtual Learning Experience with us, as we quickly shifted our youth programs this summer. The team not only provided Program Leaders with an orientation on what to expect during our scheduled "Virtual Visit", but they also brought "props", enthusiasm, and energy to the STEAM Design Challenge we launched during our annual Thingamajig® Invention Convention. The 3 Billy Goats Gruff Challenge was a great way to model how to facilitate STEAM Design Challenges with youth and how to look and check for understanding during youth engineering time. Thingamajig® Invention Convention is usually a 1000+ youth event all about innovation, design, and engineering - and the partnership with Bay Area Discovery Museum this year helped to make our virtual transition more innovative & engaging.

The kids were absolutely enamored by the [virtual] field trip and getting the opportunity to build bridges with your support and guidance. After you left, a student spent their whole hour lunch finishing their bridge. They came back to the Zoom meeting in the afternoon beyond excited to share what they created and to explain the process! Your Virtual Field Trip was the highlight of the week and school year for so many students and we appreciate you for creating this experience.

- Second Grade Teacher

My second grade team and I really enjoyed the virtual field trips with Aubree and Ruben. They were great and super engaging! Our kids literally couldn't stop sharing and building! During this online era, it is especially meaningful to have new faces and new challenges that were expertly prepared and inclusive! Thanks for everything.
