Every year, the Bay Area Discovery Museum and its Center for Childhood Creativity present Creativity Forum, a fundraiser and thought leadership luncheon for educators, parents, business leaders, and the research community. Creativity Forum is a fundraiser that supports the museum’s efforts to close the achievement gap before it begins and puts our mission into action by promoting creative thinking as a critical 21st century skill.
“The Power of a Gameful Mindset” with Jane McGonigal
Friday, March 10, 2017
12 – 1:30 p.m.
The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco
The average child born in the United States today will spend as much time playing digital games as they will in the classroom. And “gaming” begins early (think apps on phones and tablets). How can we help kids maximize the creativity-boosting skills they develop playing games and apply them in their everyday lives? Join us in a discussion with keynote speaker Jane McGonigal, a world-renowned designer of alternate reality games and author of SuperBetter, as she talks about what the latest research in neuroscience and psychology tells us about how “gamers” can become creative, resilient, and empathetic problem solvers in real life.
