Fab Lab - Bay Area Discovery Museum

Fab Lab

The World’s First Early Childhood Fab Lab

Fab Labs are maker spaces with digital fabrication technology such as 3-D printers, laser cutters, and vinyl cutters. Our Fab Lab is the world’s first for early childhood, enabling children to intentionally build science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills through hands-on learning.

Fab Lab Programs:

Design Lab

Design Lab provides children with the opportunity to intentionally build STEM skills through hands-on learning in the Fab Lab. The Fab Lab is open on select days for Design Lab, a facilitated session with a Museum Educator for children ages 5 – 10. For specific Design Lab dates and times, please view our online Calendar.

Due to the nature of the exhibition, space is limited. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can reserve your spot in a session via the sign-up sheet located outside of the Fab Lab.

Open Studio

The Fab Lab is open on select days for Open Studio Time with our Designer-in-Residence. Watch our Designer-in-Residence design and fabricate unique and fun projects in the Fab Lab. For specific dates and times, please view our online calendar.

Thank you to our generous Fab Lab supporters
