About Summer Discovery Camp

BADM Summer Camps Cancelled

Due to the Bay Area COVID-19 public health guidelines, BADM will not be conducting camps this summer. We made this decision based on a variety of factors, including our commitment to the safety of our campers, their families, and the museum staff. We share in your disappointment--the BADM camp staff was looking forward to welcoming your smiling faces to the museum and camp.

All registered campers are eligible for a full refund and should have received an email communication from us. If you are registered for camp and did not receive an email or have questions about the refund process, please connect with us at camps@badm.org.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back to BADM as soon as we can. In the meantime, please check out our Bringing BADM to You series, filled with videos, activities, and tips for keeping your child engaged in creative, STEM-inspired projects throughout the summer.

Once registration is open, you can register and purchase camp online through the Bay Area Discovery Museum’s website. From the summer camps webpage, click on the "Register Now" button. You will need to create a CampSite account to sign up for camps. Once you create an account, you will be able to select camps and extended care and checkout online. Check to see when registration is open for different BADM membership levels and the general public.

What are Summer Discovery Camps?

Discovery Camps are available for children in preschool through fourth grade, and explore engaging activities like outdoor exploration, art, tinkering, sports, fossils, and more! Camps run on a weekly* basis, so you can provide your child with diverse activities each week that will keep them excited all summer long.

Our camps provide children with an opportunity to explore engaging activities that interest them, all while teaching creative problem-solving techniques or presenting new ways of thinking about how things are made.

What are the requirements for campers to attend?

To be eligible for preschool camps, children must be 3 years old by June 8, 2020. Campers must be potty-trained to attend preschool camps, as we do not have the facilities to change diapers. Students must have experience separating from caregivers in a drop-off setting, such as school.

What is a typical day like?

Campers enjoy a day packed with fun! Here is a sample schedule of their day:

8:45 – 9 a.m.: Drop-off

How does camp drop-off and pick-up work?

For camps held at the Bay Area Discovery Museum, you drop off and pick up campers in the horseshoe driveway by the main entrance to the museum. Camp staff is stationed in the inside gate to greet you. For pick up, an authorized adult must show a photo ID and sign children out.

How do I get updates on my child's day at camp?

They’ll likely want to tell you all about their day, but we’ll also keep you up-to-date on the fun your camper is having through email communications from instructors that detail your child’s experience.

What happens if I don’t pick up my child on time from camp?

There is an additional $1 per minute late pick-up fee for all children remaining more than five minutes past their registered pick-up time. This fee applies to all emergencies without exception.

Do you offer scholarships for summer camps?

Yes, at BADM we strive to make camp available to all. If you believe a scholarship would help make camp accessible for your child, please email camps@badm.org to inquire.
