What are Summer Discovery Camps?

Discovery Camps are available for children in preschool through fourth grade, and explore engaging activities like outdoor exploration, art, tinkering, sports, fossils, and more! Camps run on a weekly* basis, so you can provide your child with diverse activities each week that will keep them excited all summer long.

Our camps provide children with an opportunity to explore engaging activities that interest them, all while teaching creative problem-solving techniques or presenting new ways of thinking about how things are made.

*New This Year – Two Week Sessions for Fab Lab Camps

This year, Fab Lab camp sessions are being offered in two week sessions only. The two-week format will allow campers to get more in-depth knowledge of the Fab Lab’s innovative tools and technologies, and a deeper understanding of how they can be used in creative problem solving.

What are the requirements for campers to attend?

To be eligible for preschool camps, children must be 3 years old by June 3, 2019. Campers must be potty-trained to attend preschool camps, as we do not have the facilities to change diapers. Students must have experience separating from caregivers in a drop-off setting, such as school.

How does camp drop-off and pick-up work?

For camps held at the Bay Area Discovery Museum, you drop off and pick up campers in the horseshoe driveway by the main entrance to the museum. Camp staff is stationed in the inside gate to greet you. For pick up, an authorized adult must show a photo ID and sign children out.

How do I get updates on my child's day at camp?

They’ll likely want to tell you all about their day, but we’ll also keep you up-to-date on the fun your camper is having through email communications from instructors that detail your child’s experience.

Who runs Summer Discovery Camps at Marin Art & Garden Center?

Camps at MAGC are led by Bay Area Discovery Museum Educators, so you can expect the same high-quality Discovery Camp programming.

What happens if I don’t pick up my child on time from camp?

There is an additional $1 per minute late pick-up fee for all children remaining more than five minutes past their registered pick-up time. This fee applies to all emergencies without exception.

Do you offer scholarships for summer camps?

Yes, at BADM we strive to make camp available to all. If you believe a scholarship would help make camp accessible for your child, please email camps@badm.org to inquire.
